Share one of the biggest losses you’ve experienced:
My biggest loss today is still fresh. I lost my grandmother about a month ago. If you would have told me that I would still be functioning without her I would have looked at you crazy. I knew the day would eventually come, but I still feel unprepared and as if I didn’t get to do enough with my life.
Share some of the choices that have been most helpful in continuing to move you forward and supporting you while you are healing:
Honestly, my faith in Christ is the main thing that is keeping me going. The promise that we’ll be reunited one day is where I find my strength. Having a strong faith community around me is crucial as well. It means the world to me to have a place where I can be broken and vulnerable in the midst of my healing.
Share some ways you have tried to incorporate laughter and fun in the midst of the hurt:
Laughter is what keeps my heart light. The Bible teaches that laughter does good like medicine. I love finding joy in the simple humor. Instagram and Pinterest has the best material to just bust a gut laughing. That’s one of the reasons I try to be free on my social media. I don’t want it to be brand heavy and to forget about the reality of life. Life is FUNNY!
Share how this experience has been instrumental in leading you to where you are today:
Losing my grandmother is teaching me how to live. Not to just exist but to live. To be intentional about following God totally and completely everyday. I’ve been learning how to not allow fear and doubt keep me from pursuing everything that I know God has for me. My grandmother left an amazing legacy. I want to do everything that I can to try to live up to it.
Share any tips/advice/love for others who have gone through something similar:
For anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one all I can say it it hurts. It’s a pain that’s indescribable. It’s a hole that no person on earth can ever fill, but Christ can. He fills our hearts with love and peace like none other. And He surrounds us with people who will be our support. Don’t isolate yourself but allow yourself to be loved on by others.
