Our Savannah Babymoon

Hi friends! As I shared about in my second trimester recap + adventures, Matt and I really wanted to take advantage of my feeling well and travel some before we have another little person in our world!

With that in mind, and knowing the girls would be with their Dad on Thanksgiving this year, we decided to go away for the holiday and take a little babymoon. I've always been a bit partial to Savannah as it's where I was born and it's also where Matt and I had one of the most important + memorable conversations during our time dating as I shared on Instagram here! :) It's also not too far a drive which is really nice when you're on the cusp of your third trimester!

So, on Wednesday morning we dropped the girls with their Dad {after celebrating Thanksgiving with them the previous weekend} and went home to get some things organized + cleaned, as well as to pack. Thursday morning we lingered in bed for a bit to read + enjoy coffee and then loaded up the car.

We arrived in Savannah around 4p, checked into our hotel, put our feet up and then freshened up for drinks {non-alcoholic for me of course ;} + dinner at The Olde Pink House

It was such a magical evening in the only Savannah 18th century mansion... they have a basement bar that has tons of candles all over the place and great service. We enjoyed drinks down there and then went upstairs 2 levels for an AMAZING dinner. We were thrilled that we weren't limited to a turkey dinner, especially since we'd just had that traditional meal the previous weekend with the girls and Matt's parents... We ended up with fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, lobster tails, mac n' cheese, potatoes and delicious desserts {obviously we were on a diet!}.

Friday morning Matt woke up early and enjoyed playing golf at The Club at Savannah Harbor  while I headed to Milan Spa for a pre-natal massage. Matt and I went there on our last trip to Savannah and received such great service that I knew I wanted to go back. This time did not disappoint either!

After the massage I enjoyed some quiet time journaling and reading at a local coffee shop and then Matt and I linked up for a lunch date at a little local cafe. Then we enjoyed some nap time back in the room for a bit before heading out for the lighting of the Christmas tree and another yummy dinner.

After taking in the tree, we walked around and did a little Black Friday shopping and then headed to dinner at Garibaldi's. This is the restaurant we had the conversation at that I mentioned above so it's definitely a special place to us and their Italian food is SOOOOO yummy! We split a crab cake, a Cesar salad and the lasagna. After walking around a bit more and grabbing some hot chocolate we headed back to our room.

I must say that one of the highlights of our getaway for me was getting in bed by 9p every night- and every pregnant woman says "Amen!" :)

Saturday we enjoyed a lazy morning, reading and watching pre-game coverage for the big AU + GA game that was happening that afternoon. Matt also brought back treats from Rise Biscuits and Donuts for us to indulge in that morning- one word for those: YUM!

After getting cleaned up, we walked around and explored a good bit and then met up with some good friends of ours at Paula Deen's restaurant Lady & Sons. The food was great and the company even better! Our friends recently found out that they're expecting as well so it was a fun time talking all things baby + parenthood.

We hurried back to the room at this point to catch the big game and ultimately see AU WIN!!! Then that evening we took in the Christmas light boat parade and did some more exploring. After eating a late + large lunch we weren't really feeling a big dinner so we decided to just get dessert that night- my favorite kind of meal :) We found a place that makes rolled ice cream, crepe desserts and more- woohoo! We selected some goodies and headed back to our room to enjoy them and continue watching Stranger Things.

Sunday morning after checking out of the hotel, we went to a coffee shop- Gallery Espresso- that we love in Savannah and walked through some of the squares and took in many of the churches' unique architecture before hitting the road.

Our hearts were so full after having this time away and we are both so glad that we made it a point to do this... I am constantly reminded of what a gift it is to both be intentional in dating each other constantly, even once you're married, and also take time to step away from the everyday and spend some focused time with one another. One of the things we made a point to talk about while away was how we are going to be intentional in continuing to date one another even when our family grows :)
